The United Kennel Club (UKC) has bestowed upon the Russell Terrier Foundation Club or RTFC, founded by Michael and Avril Black, the honor of becoming the provisional national breed club for the UKC Russell Terrier.
We believe in the UKC's philosophy that "our dogs do stuff." Therefore, the National Russell Terrier Foundation Club will be hosting not only conformation shows, but also a variety of UKC performance events and seminars throughout the USA. Temporary Listings will be available for all of these events. We encourage those new to the breed or who have never been to a UKC event to come have fun with the NRTFC!
The NRTFC's mission is to advance the best interests of the UKC registered Russell Terrier, to increase awareness of the breed, and to promote quality in the breeding and exhibiting of purebred Russell Terriers. We welcome anyone interested in UKC Russell Terriers to get involved with the club.
The English Jack Russell was recognized by the UKC on January 1st 2001, as the RUSSELL TERRIER. It is the intent of UKC and NRTFC to ensure the dogs registered as RUSSELL TERRIERS in UKC and NRTFC are in fact the type of English Jack Russell originally presented and registered as Foundation Stock. UKC and NRTFC goal is to maintain the Stud Book's integrity for present and future generations.
The NRTFC is an approved UKC registrar for “Single Dog Registration” of the Russell Terrier.
The NRTFC and the United Kennel Club (UKC) will not accept registration from Continental Kennel Club for the Russell Terrier.
As of April 23rd 2008 UKC now recognizes the "Under Parson” UKC Jack Russell 10” to 12” and has changed the name from "Jack Russell" to "Parson Russell”. Refer to UKC Breed Standard History section for further information.
