National Russell Terrier Foundation Club or NRTFC was founded by Michael and Avril Black.
We believe in the philosophy that "our dogs do stuff." Therefore, the National Russell Terrier Foundation Club will be hosting not only conformation shows, but also a variety of performance events and seminars throughout the USA. We encourage those new to the breed or who have never been to an event to come have fun with the NRTFC!
The NRTFC's mission is to advance the best interests of the registered Russell Terrier, to increase awareness of the breed, and to promote quality in the breeding and exhibiting of purebred Russell Terriers. We welcome anyone interested in Russell Terriers to get involved with our club.
The English Jack Russell was recognized by the UKC on January 1st 2001 as the RUSSELL TERRIER. The American Rare Breed Association (ARBA) recognized the breed as a RUSSELL TERRIER in January 2003. The RUSSELL TERRIER has been recorded in the AKC Foundation Stock since October 2005.
It is the intent of NRTFC to ensure the dogs registered as RUSSELL TERRIERS are in fact the type of English Jack Russell originally presented and Registered as Foundation Stock. The NRTFC goal is to maintain the Stud Book's integrity for present and future generations. The NRTFC's Registry dates back to 1961 for the Russell Terrier with Breeders from all over the United States. All dogs registered with NRTFC are not cross bred with Fox Terriers OR Parson Russell Terrier. Looking for a pure Russell Terrier or "Short Jack Russell"? Contact the NRTFC!!
The NRTFC is an approved registry for The American Rare Breed Association. Many Owners/Breeders of "English Jack Russell Terriers” ("Russell Terriers") sent their pedigrees to our club in 2006, for FSS AKC, We have worked on a non-crossbred registry for the American Rare Breed Association. www.arba.org. A total of almost 1,000 dogs have been recorded. The American Rare Breed Association will be contacting you all to see if you would like to activate your registration with them.
Please contact the NRTFC regarding any single registrations, for the Russell Terrier The American Rare Breed Association will NOT register your dog unless it has been first registered with the NRTFC. The NRTFC does not recognize the CKC or NKC as a PURE Breed registry for the Russell Terrier.
The National Russell Terrier Foundation Club produced this registry free of charge, to all the owner/breeders of non-crossbred dogs. email@example.com The NRTFC was the first organization to initiate steps to split both the Smooth coated dog and the Wire coated dog into two separate breeds.
AS OF APRIL 1st 2010 THE AMERICAN RARE BREED ASSOCIATION (recognized registry for AKC) IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE RUSSELL TERRIER.
In 2005 FSS AKC took our Registry for Foundation Stock for the Breed Russell Terrier and at this present time this Registry is still being recognized for "Single Dog Registration" by AKC.
The NRTFC, FSS AKC and ARBA has never accepted registrations from Continental Kennel Club or NKC for the Russell Terrier.
As of January 1st 2009
THE NRTFC DOES NOT SUPPORT THE UKC AND NO LONGER REGISTERS "RUSSELL TERRIERS" WITH THEM
UKC is no longer an acceptable registry for the FSS AKC "Russell Terrier" as of 2011.
